01 — Define the Agent's Role

What is this agent responsible for? Give it a clear job title and a one-sentence mandate that describes exactly what it owns.

Tip: Think of the agent like a new hire. What's on their job description? A good mandate sounds like: "This agent owns [process] and is responsible for [outcome]." Be specific — vague roles lead to vague agents.

02 — Identify the Problem It Solves

What manual task, bottleneck, or delay does this agent eliminate? What skills does it need to have to do a successful job?

Tip: Start with pain, not solution. What takes too long today? What falls through the cracks? Then ask: what would a human expert need to know to fix it — those are your agent's required skills.
